An Interview with Emedin Rivera - Drums / Percussion

Hi Emedin, how many years have you been playing?
I've been playing for over 40 years.

Where was your first gig?
It was in Puerto Rico playing drums with a local band.

What musician influenced you?
What influenced me to become a musician was when I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show.

How many bands have you been in?
I've played with too many bands to count.

What's it like to gig?
Even though there are a lot of ups and downs, gigging is my life.  Unfortunately, there isn't the same appreciation for live music today as there was years ago, but I love what I do and couldn't ever see myself doing anything else.

How often do you practice?
I practice every night for at least three hours.

What was one of your accomplishments as a musician?
My greatest accomplishment was doing what I loved to do all my life.  Over the years I've had the pleasure of playing with some of the top names in the industry which has won me Five Emmys.
