Joe Montini is a very talented sax player. He also plays the flute and
the piano. He studied saxophone jazz performance at the Manhattan
School of Music. Here's how our interview went.
Hi Joe, how many years have you been playing?
I've been playing for 45 years.
What was your first sax?
That would be the Bari Sax.
What musician influenced you?
It was Sonny Rollins.
How many bands have you been in?
I've been in seven bands.
What's it like to gig?
Gigging is an ecstatic release, becoming one with other musicians and listeners, simultaneous peace and joy.
What was one of your accomplishments as a musician?
I was on a National TV broadcast on the Merv Griffin show with Dizzy Gillespie.
