An Interview with Kathy Sheppard
Hi Kathy, where are you living now?
I live in Mahwah, NJ.
How many years have you been playing?
I just celebrated the 50th anniversary of my first piano lesson. I have been playing in front of audiences over 40 years.
What musicians influenced you?
Despite a strong background in and great devotion to classical music, my main influences are prog rock and Zappa.
How many bands have you play in?
TOO MANY, lol.
How often do you practice?
I still do practice daily, and am very fortunate to have a wonderful teacher to continue learning from.
What advice can you share with a newbie musician?
My advice would be to remain open-minded and learn as much as possible in order to be "employable" for most any situation.
What is one of your accomplishments as a musician?
My greatest accomplishment is to have been the founder and first owner of the Paul Green School of Rock in South Hackensack, the first school granted a license by Paul Green to bear his name outside of the Philadelphia area. So many young and great musicians met and got their start there.
